Meet The Team

David Eddins, DVM

Owner

I discovered my vocation in veterinary medicine after careers in music education and marine science. I have always loved music and took trumpet lessons from early childhood through college where I earned a degree in Music Education. After earning my degree from Marshall University I spent several years as a high school music teacher and assistant band director in rural West Virginia. Our band program was very successful and received statewide recognition. Despite our success, music education gradually became a less important part of the curriculum and I began investigating a career change.

I decided on a career in marine science because of my long held fascination with the ocean. I earned a Marine Science degree from the University of South Carolina and began working as resident biologist at Pritchard’s Island, a pristine barrier island along the South Carolina coast that is accessible only by boat. On the Island I coordinated an ongoing loggerhead sea turtle conservation project and a variety of public outreach programs. It did not take me long to discover that I enjoyed working with the turtles as well as educating the public about the animal's life histories, preservation and habitat. At that point I began to investigate careers in veterinary medicine. Fortunately, a veterinarian brought an Explorer Scouts group (Veterinary Medicine) to the Island. After many conversations with her and several visits to her clinic, I was convinced that I wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

I earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia. I have been practicing veterinary medicine for over a decade now, and have enjoyed growing and gaining valuable experience while meeting many wonderful clients and their pets. As a pet owner myself, I am committed to providing the best quality care and personal attention that your pets deserve. I look forward to meeting you and your pet.

Katelyn Day

My name is Katelyn Day I have been in the veterinary field for two years now. When I am out of the office I am spending my time with my two small children either camping, hiking or at the park! Animals have always been my passion and I look forward to serving you and your fur babies!

Jeff Moore

Kennel Attendant

I am a native Texan, with the proverbial brown hair (when I had hair) and brown eyes. I am a proud veteran of the US Air Force, having served tours in Germany, back when it was West Germany, and Maryland. The AF must have been mad at me, as they always assigned me to Army posts. While in Maryland, my wife, Tracy, wanted a cat. I didn’t want a cat, so we compromised and got a cat. We have been pet owners ever since, owning both dogs and cats. Our lives have certainly been enriched by the diverse personalities in our home.
The scriptures tell us that “a righteous man regardeth the life of his beast” (Proverbs 12:10), and taking care of your animals is rewarding and fulfilling. I work with a great group of people, and when they treat me like a dog, they have paid me the highest of compliments! Because here, dogs are royalty. Okay, cats too!

Jordan Arrowood

Kennel Assistant

My name is Jordan Arrowood and I was born and raised here in Shelby, North Carolina. All my life, I have had pets from hamsters, hermit crabs, and fish, to snakes, cats, and dogs. Currently I have cats and dogs in my home and I rescue when I can.

I work back in the kennel, so I'm one of the main ones taking care of your fur babies while you're away. I have a passion for animals and I always have. Animals have no voice, so we are the ones who must speak for them. When I am not at work, I spend my time indulging in my creative hobbies, spending time with my family and friends, and snuggling with my fur babies.

Here at Cottonwood, we love all animals and we do our best to make them happy while they're here. I look forward to working with your sweet angels!

Rosie (RIP)

Client Service Representative/ Greeter

Rosie was rescued from a busy intersection in November 2012.  I love living at Cottonwood.  I work hard greeting clients and keeping my coworkers in line.  My favorite things are stuffed animals, walks, attention and cuddles. Come by and see me.  I love meeting new people and their critters.

Bandy (RIP)

Electronic Interface Executive Information Officer (EIEIO)

Here is Bandy's life story:

I am the pride and joy of Cottonwood! I work like a dog all day, and bark at Rosie whenever she tries to sneak outside without me. The staff relies heavily on me, trusting me with their most personal secrets. Besides counseling and listening services, I also regale everyone with stories of my younger, more boisterous days. Without trying to brag, my reputation has spread far and wide. To this day, whenever I go outside the birds fly away. No squirrel or rabbit dares to wander inside the fence when I am around. I might have chased a rabbit or squirrel in my youth, today I no longer have to. Good Thing! Today all I can chase is memories.
